Montgomery Biscuits (29-31) 10, Carolina Mudcats (32-28) 2

Montgomery, AL --- For the second consecutvie game, Montgomery hit Carolina with a six-run inning en route to an easy 10-2 victory in the rubber game of a five-game series at Riverwalk Stadium on Wednesday night.

For the first time in three seasons, the Mudcats' pitching staff allowed 10 runs in a third straight contest.  The Biscuits (29-31) scored six times against Carolina starter Derell McCall (L, 1-3) in the second inning.  Josh Asanovich doubled in two runs after McCall allowed a one-out single and walk.  Later in the inning, ex-Mudcat infielder Ronnie Merrill drilled a two-run single, followed two hitters later with a two-run hit by Chris Nowak. 

Carolina (32-28) fell four games behind the first-place Northern Division tandem of Hutnsville and West Tenn with 10 games remaining.  Carolina is off on Thursday while Huntsville hosts West Tenn in the first of five on Thursday night.

Cameron Maybin continued a huge series with his second triple of the set, knocking in John Raynor in the fifth inning with the Mudcats' first run.  Maybin finished the series 10-21 with a double, two triples and three homers. 

Kris Harvey hit his third homer of the 10-game road trip in the seventh inning against winning pitcher Richard DeLosSantos (W, 5-5). 

Montgomery tacked on another run in the fifth against McCall, then three in the sixth against Jeff Gogal.

The Biscuits are the first team against which the Mudcats are done playing in 2008.  Carolina won the season-series 6-4 despite Montgomery claiming this series 3-2.

Rick Vanden Hurk (1-0, 5.91) starts the series opener at Five County Stadium on Friday night against the Jacksonville Suns at 7:15 PM ET.
