Montgomery Biscuits (28-31) 10, Carolina Mudcats (32-27) 5

Montgomery, AL --- A six-run Montgomery fifth inning overtook a Carolina lead and led the Biscuits to a 10-5 victory at Riverwalk Stadium on Tuesday night.

Carolina (32-27) fell four games behind first-place Huntsville in the Northern Division with 11 games remaining in the first half.

Leading 5-3 into the bottom of the fifth inning, starting pitcher Brett Sinkbeil (L, 2-6) allowed four straight singles, which allowed the Biscuits (28-31) to even the game 5-5.  After an out and a walk, Sinkbeil was replaced by Tim Wood, whose first pitch was swatted into the right field corner by Rashad Eldridge for a two-run double.  Ex-Mudcat infielder Ronnie Merrill followed with a two-run single to right as Montgomery claimed a 9-5 lead.

Down 2-1 into the second, Lee Mitchell clubbed a solo homer against starting pitcher Kevin Lynn to tie the game 2-2.

The Mudcats rallied again for the lead in the fifth thanks to a pair of Biscuits errors.  Down 3-2, the Mudcats loaded the bases thanks to a double by Kris Harvey, a single by John Raynor, then a walk to Lorenzo Scott with one out.  Jason Cromer relieved Lynn and induced Cameron Maybin into hitting a sinking line drive to first baseman Rhyne Hughes, who was handcuffed for an error, keeping the bases loaded as the game was tied.  Gaby Sanchez then hit a grounder to third, Chris Nowak threw home for a force out, but John Jaso's throw from home toward first sailed over Hughes' head, scoring Scott and Maybin for a 5-3 lead.

Four Carolina pitchers permitted 16 hits to the Biscuits, who scored double-figure runs for the second straight game.

Raynor, Maybin and Manuel Mayorson each had two hits for the Mudcats.  Maybin is now 9-17 in the series with three homers against the Biscuits.

The season-series ends Wednesday night in Montgomery with Derell McCall (1-1, 5.28) starting against Montgomery's Richard DeLosSantos (4-5, 3.49) at 8:05 PM ET.  The Mudcats lead the season-series 6-3.
