Jacksonville Suns (5-8) 7, Carolina Mudcats (9-4) 4

Jacksonville, FL -- Three walks to begin the seventh inning doomed Carolina's five-game winning streak as the Jacksonville Suns raced past the Mudcats 7-4 at the Baseball Grounds on Wednesday afternoon.

Carolina (9-4), which led 4-0 after three innings thanks to a Lee Mitchell two-run homer, let the Suns (5-8) rally without a hit in the late innings as Jacksonville won for the first time in the series.  Jacob Marceaux, who induced a key double play when he entered in the sixth to preserve Aaron Thompson's 4-2 lead, walked the first three hitters he faced before being taken down in favor of Carlos Martinez.  Jamie Hoffmann singled in a run to draw the Suns within 4-3, then after a popout, Martinez walked in the tying run.  After another pop up, pinch hitter Bobby Malek singed to center on a two-strike pitch to put Jacksonville ahead for the first time since Monday night.

The Suns added an insurance run in the eighth against Martinez on a double by Greg Jacobs.

Carolina still holds a one-game lead in the Northern Division, with Tennessee unable to move into a tie with a 3-2 loss to Montgomery Wednesday afternoon.

Thompson worked 5 1/3 innings, littering nine hits and three walks, but holding the Suns to 0-8 with runners in scoring position in the first five innings.  Thompson also added a career-high three hits offensively, including a run-scoring double in the third after Mitchell's two run homer.  Thompson is now hitting .800 through the first two weeks of the season, going 4-5.

Willie Glen (2-0, 1.23) makes a spot start for Rick Vanden Hurk on Thursday night against right-hander Jesus Castillo (0-0, 2.35) at 7:05 PM ET.  Vanden Hurk was placed on the disabled list retroactive to Sunday with a right ulnar nerve injury.
