| Carolina 7, Huntsville 2
Huntsville, AL --- Eric Riggs' three-run double in the fifth spearheaded a seven-run, two-out outburst over the game's final five innings to lead Carolina to a 7-2 victory over first-place Huntsville on Tuesday night at Joe Davis Stadium.
Trailing 2-0 in the fifth, Riggs drilled a double with the bases loaded against starter Derek Miller (L, 5-2) to give the Mudcats a 3-2 advantage. In the sixth, Rex Rundgren battled relief pitcher Bo Hall to a 3-2 count before smoking a liner to center to score two runs for a 5-2 lead. In the ninth, Brett Hayes and Johnny Raburn stroked two-out RBI hits as Carolina moved to within five games of Northern-leading Huntsville with 13 to play in the regular season.
Chris Seddon (W, 6-9) worked six strong innings, permitting Huntsville's only two hits of the game, while fanning seven. Seddon saw an unearned run score on a dropped popfly by a charging Jai Miller in centerfield, then allowed a solo homer to Adam Heether in the fourth.
Chris Mobley and Jesus Delgado (S, 1) combined for three perfect innings to finish off Carolina's fifth straight road victory. Huntsville's final hit of the game was Heether's fourth-inning home run. Carolina pitchers retired 18 of the last 19 Stars batters they faced.
