Carolina 10, Jacksonville 1

Jacksonville, FL -- Eric Riggs and Johnny Raburn each hit two-run homers to lead Carolina to its second straight decisive win over the Jacksonville Suns 10-1 at the Baseball Grounds on Saturday night.

Carolina (24-25, 52-67), which drubbed the league's best team 19-3 on Friday night, scored early once again with Jai Miller driving home Raburn from second base with two outs in the first inning, then Riggs connecting for a two-run homer against Suns starter Zach Hammes in the second as Carolina assumed a 4-0 lead.

Chris Volstad (W, 1-1) worked six scoreless innings en route to his first Double-A victory, fanning two and permitting just two hits.

The Mudcats put away the Suns (31-18, 72-47) with six runs in the seventh inning against reliever Mark Alexander.  Raburn drilled a two-run homer to right as Carolina put the first eight batters aboard in that inning.  Leading 10-0 after 6 1/2, a large rainstorm halted action for over a half-hour before the game resumed.

Ben Julianel making his Mudcats debut in 2007, allowed a solo home run to Anthony Raglani in the last of the seventh for Jacksonville's only run. Julianel worked two innings before Jesus Delgado pitched a perfect ninth to wrap up the Mudcats' second straight win.

Raburn paced the Mudcats with three hits and three RBI, while Brett Hayes went 3-5 with an RBI.  Riggs and Dante Brinkley each had two hits in the victory.  Carolina knocked out 14 hits Saturday night after assimilating 18 on Friday night.
