Jacksonville 5, Carolina 2
Jacksonville, FL --- Two solo home runs from Lee Mitchell could not halt Carolina's road woes as Jacksonville completed a six-game sweep of the Mudcats with a 5-2 victory on Saturday night at the Baseball Grounds.
Mitchell homered against the left field scoreboard in the fourth inning to tie the game 1-1, then went deep again to right field in the eighth to draw Carolina (0-6) to within 4-2, but the Suns (6-0) sent the Mudcats reeling to its club-record 15th straight road loss.
Alberto Concepcion homered in the second against second-time Carolina starter Chris Seddon. After Mitchell evened the game in the fourth, Seddon allowed three runs in the bottom half, highlighted by a run-scoring triple by Anthony Raglani, which followed a single and double.
Justin Orenduff (W, 3-2) earned his second straight victory, while Seddon took his first loss since joining the Florida Marlins organization on a waiver claim two weeks ago.
Former Suns infielder Eric Riggs had two of Carolina's seven hits, while Blake McGinley pitched two scoreless innings behind Seddon. Mitchell's two-homer game was his third of the season, and a club-record seventh by a Mudcat this season.
Carolina is 3-13 head-to-head against the Suns this season with 14 remaining.
The Mudcats return home for their first games of the second half at Five County Stadium Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM ET against the Tennessee Smokies. Gaby Hernandez (3-6, 3.86) starts against Justin Berg (3-5, 5.66).
