| Carolina 9, Chattanooga 1
Zebulon, NC- The Carolina Mudcats exploded offensively for a 9-1 victory Saturday night against the
Chattanooga Lookouts (29-40) at Five County Stadium.
Carolina (27-42) blew the game wide open in the seventh inning. Catcher Brett Hayes hit a two RBI
double in the seventh to score Bear and Harrison. The Mudcats ended the seventh scoring four runs, giving
them nine on the night.
The game was far from close. Carolina tallied 13 hits while the Lookouts recorded one run off one hit.
Mudcats starter Jesus Delgado retired the last nine batters he faced on route to winning his fifth game on
the season. Delgado went a solid six innings allowing just one run off one hit. The Lookouts lone hit came
off left fielder Tyrell Godwin’s bat in the first inning. Godwin’s single scored Marland Williams in
the first.
That lead would last until the Mudcats came to bat. A leadoff triple by left fielder Jonny Raburn and an
RBI fielder’s choice by Bear would give Carolina a 2-1 lead and never looked back. Raburn hit another triple in
the fourth giving him four on the year.
Carolina reliever Scott Nestor came in to pitch to start the seventh inning. Nestor pitched a perfect two
innings in relief. The appearance was Nestor’s 30th on the year, leading the Southern League.
The win gives the Mudcats a 3-1 edge going into the series finale Sunday at 2:05. Fathers are welcome to
play catch with their children on the field starting at noon. The Mudcats will welcome lefthander Chris
Seddon to their team as he makes his first start Sunday. He will face Lookouts southpaw Luke Lockwood
(1-7, 5.21).
