| Montgomery 4, Carolina 3 (10)
Montgomery, AL -- Chris Nowak homered in the bottom of the 10th to lift the Montgomery Biscuits past Carolina 4-3 at Riverwalk Stadium on Monday night.
The Mudcats (20-38), who suffered their seventh straight loss, squandered a 2-0 lead in the seventh when the Biscuits (31-27) tied the game against reliever Chris Mobley. Mobley entered the game after starter Gaby Hernandez allowed a leadoff double.
Patrick Breen tripled home a run with one out, then scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Josh Asanovich. The Biscuits went ahead in the eighth on a single by Nowak.
Trailing 3-2 in the ninth, Grant Psomas drilled his second homer of the game, clearing the left field wall against Nick DeBarr. Psomas also homered in the third to give Hernandez a 2-0 lead.
Carolina had gone ahead on a two-out single by Jai Miller in the second inning, Miller's sixth hit in the three-game series. Hernandez worked six-plus innings, permitting four hits and one run, fanning six. Maruro Zarate (L, 0-1) suffered the loss when Nowak drilled an 0-2 changeup over the left field fence.
The Mudcats won their first game on their current 10-game road trip, but have lost seven straight with two remaining Tuesday and Wednesday night.
James Russ (0-1, 5.40) starts against Jon Barratt (0-3, 3.38) at 8:05 PM ET Tuesday.
