Montgomery 4, Carolina 2

Montgomery, AL --- Reid Brignac and Gabriel Martinez hit two-run homers to lead Montgomery past Carolina 4-2 at Riverwalk Stadium on Sunday afternoon.  

Brignac hit a 2-2 pitch from starter Jesus Silva (L, 0-1) over the right field wall in the first inning, then Martinez connected to right against reliever Blake McGinley in the sixth as the Biscuits (30-27) claimed a 4-1 lead.  

Silva worked five-plus innings, permitting five hits and three runs.  Silva hit Evan Longoria to led off the Biscuits' sixth inning, then was relieved by McGinley, who retired the next two batters prior to Martinez's homer.  

Chase Lambin hit a solo homer in the eighth against Richard De Los Santos to draw the Mudcats to within 4-2.   Jai Miller collected three hits to pace the Mudcats, including a run-scoring double in the second inning. 

Carolina (20-37) threatened in the ninth against closer Dale Thayer with Ryan Bear and Miller singling on the first two pitches, but Carolina could not convert, ultimately matching its season-high with a sixth straight loss.  

Gaby Hernandez starts Monday night in the middle game of the series against James Houser at 8:05 PM ET at Riverwalk Stadium.
