| Montgomery 4, Carolina 3
Montgomery, AL --- Jason Pridie hit a game-ending single to left capping a four-run rally as Montgomery handed Carolina its fifth straight loss, 4-3 at Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday night.
Carolina (20-36) led 3-0 into the bottom of the eighth after Daniel Barone pitched three-hit ball over seven innings. Two unearned runs nicked first-time Double-A reliever Maruro Zarate in the last of the eighth on a double by Reid Brignac.
In the last of the ninth, Scott Nestor (L, 1-2) opened the inning by walking John Jaso, then saw Chris Nowak drop a single to right field. After Shaun Cumberland struck out bunting, Patrick Breen singled to right to score Jaso with the tying run. After a pitching change summoned Craig Molldrem into the game, an intentional walk loaded the bases before Josh Asanovich hit into a force play at home.
Pride then singled on a one-strike pitch to end the game as the Biscuits snapped a 132-game losing streak when trailing after eight innings.
Carolina took a 1-0 lead over Chris Seddon in the second inning when Montgomery native Jai Miller singled to center with two outs to score Ryan Bear. Bear came home again in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by former Biscuit Vince Harrison.
The lead grew to 3-0 in the fifth on a single by Chase Lambin, who went 3-5 in the game.
Jesus Silva will be added to the Mudcats' roster to make Sunday afternoon's start at 3:05 PM ET.
