| Mobile 7, Carolina 2
Mobile, AL --- A six-run second inning catapulted the Mobile BayBears past the Carolina Mudcats 7-2 at Hank Aaron Stadium on Tuesday night.
The first six Mobile (27-25) batters reached against Carolina starter Gaby Hernandez (L, 2-6) in the second, with pitcher Esmerling Vasquez (W, 4-4) delivering a key two-run single. Eleven hitters came to the plate, with seven collecting hits. Hernandez would face three batters in the third before being relieved by Jimmy Serrano.
Dante Brinkley hit a pair of RBI-grounders for Carolina (20-32), while Lee Mitchell singled in his final at-bat to extend his hitting streak to nine. Mitchell's seven-game RBI-streak ended two shy of matching a club record.
James Russ starts the middle game of the series on Wednesday night against Jonathan Castellanos at 8:05 PM ET.
