Zebulon, NC --- Jesus Delgado and two Carolina relievers combined on a five-hit shutout of Chattanooga as the Mudcats claimed the first game of the five-game series at Five County Stadium on Saturday.  

Delgado (W, 2-1) stranded seven baserunners over five scoreless innings en route to becoming Carolina's first two-game winner.  Delgado fanned eight, allowing four hits - all doubles.  

Brad Davis hit his second home run of the homestand, taking out Tyler Pelland (L, 0-2) with two outs and one on in the second inning.  Brett Carroll doubled home Ryan Bear in the fourth for a 3-0 lead, then Lee Mitchell delivered a bases-loaded two-run single in the fifth as Carolina (5-11) went ahead 5-0.  

The shutout wasn't without its fireworks, when after Bear was hit in the helmet by Lookouts reliever Carlos Guevara, a brawl ensued at the first base bag.  Guevara made a pickoff throw when first baseman Tonnys Gutierrez and Bear began arguing, leading to the two locking up and wrestling to the ground.  Both benches cleared with players having to be restrained.  Warnings were issued and Bear and Gutierrez were ejected.  The inning ended when Carroll flew out.  

In the top of the eight, Mudcats reliever Craig Molldrem continued his two-inning outing, and fired the first pitch behind Lookouts leadoff hitter Cody Strait, which led to the benches clearing again.  Mudcats manager Brandon Hyde and Molldrem were ejected, and the umpires then ordered all of the other relievers and bench players not directly involved in the game to their respective clubhouses.  

Harvey Garcia entered after Molldrem's ejection and worked two scoreless innings to end the game, Carolina's second shutout of the season.   

Daniel Barone (0-1, 3.94) starts Sunday at 2:00 PM ET against Chattanooga's James Avery (1-2, 4.70).
