** Alvarez joins Mudcats **

Zebulon, NC --- The Florida Marlins have added LHP Carlos Alvarez to the roster of their Double-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats prior to tonight's game in Chattanooga.  

Alvarez had pitched portions of the last three seasons with the Jacksonville Suns in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, and began his first season with Florida in the Florida State League with the Jupiter Hammerheads.   

In nine relief appearances with the Hammerheads, Alvarez was 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA.   

The Mudcats had a roster spot available to accommodate Alvarez, so there is no other corresponding roster move.
