W 5-3

Zebulon, NC --- The Carolina Mudcats beat the Chattanooga Lookouts for the 19th time in 25 games, winning the opener of a three-game series 5-3 at Five County Stadium on Monday night.

A three-run sixth inning catapulted the Mudcats (18-11) to a 5-3 lead for Yorman Bazardo (W, 8-6).  Jeremy Hermida looped an RBI-double to score the tying run against reliever Jason Andrew, followed by a tie-breaking hit to right by Jason Hill.  Reggie Abercrombie then delivered a sacrifice fly to center to cap the inning.

Bazardo earned the win with six innings of three-run baseball.  Bazardo wielded a two-hit shutout into the sixth before allowing three, two of which scored on a Rick Asadoorian homer.

Robert Andino supplied the Mudcats with a 1-0 lead in the first on his first home run in just over two months.  Andino went 2-3 with two runs scored to pace the offense.

Ross Wolf and Chris Resop each pitched a scoreless inning, leading to Mike Flannery's 12th save with a shutout ninth.

The Mudcats continue a 3-1 homestand on Tuesday night with Ray Aguilar (3-0, 2.03) scheduled to start against Travis Chick (2-9, 5.36) at 7:15 PM.
