W 6-1
Chattanooga, TN --- For the first time in nearly a year, the Chattanooga Lookouts used the home-field advantage to their benefit, snapping a 10-game home losing streak to Carolina with a 6-1 victory on Tuesday night.
The Lookouts, who had not beaten the Mudcats at BellSouth Park since July 24, 2004, scored six early runs keyed by a two-run triple by catcher Brian Peterson in the sixth inning to build a 6-1 lead.
The game began auspiciously enough for the Mudcats, whose three-game winning streak was snapped. Frank Moore belted the game's third pitch for an opposite field home run against winning pitcher Bobby Basham (W, 1-2). However, that run would be Carolina's only score of the game.
Adam Bostick (L, 1-1) suffered the loss in his second Double-A start, allowing five runs over 5 1/3 innings.
The Mudcats mustered just four hits, with catcher Dennis Anderson collecting two singles.
With the loss, the Mudcats fell back into second place in the North - 1/2 game behind West Tenn.
The third game of the four game set is Wednesday afternoon at 12:15 PM ET with Yorman Bazardo starting opposite Richie Gardner.
