W 1-0

Zebulon, NC --- Carolina's six-game losing streak ended thanks to an unearned run in the fifth inning as the Mudcats defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 1-0 before 5,512 fans at Five County Stadium on Saturday night.

Rex Rundgren scored on a throwing error by D'Angelo Jimenez with two outs in the fifth on a grounder by Robert Andino.  Rundgren had walked against relief pitcher Brad Salmon (L, 3-7), moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and took third on a groundball by Frank Moore.

Nic Ungs (W, 7-5) earned the win with 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball, but needed help from Matt Yourkin, who entered with two on and two out in the seventh, only to fan Junior Ruiz on a 2-2 pitch.  Chris Resop (S, 23) registered his league-tying 23rd save over the final two innings.

Carolina's lead in the Northern Division shrank to one game over West Tenn after the Diamond Jaxx swept a pair from Montgomery.

The Mudcats (31-22, 72-49) had just two hits in the game, a double by Jason Hill in the seventh and an opposite-field single by JC Muniz in the second.

Carolina closes its three-game mini-homestand on Sunday at 4:00 PM ET with Luke Lockwood (2-6, 3.38) starting against Phil Dumatrait (4-11, 3.40).
