Sevierville, TN --- The Carolina Mudcats won their third straight game, starting a weeklong roadtrip with a 5-2 win over Tennessee at Smokies Park.
A four-run sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie as Carolina took a commanding four-game lead in the Northern Division.
Jason Hill hit a two-run infield single in the key inning, one of his two hits. Frank Moore paced the 13-hit attack with his first four-hit game of the season. Jeremy Hermida reached base all five plate appearances with two hits and three walks. Dennis Anderson pitched in with two hits and a run scored.
Adam Bostick (W, 4-1) earned his fourth Double-A win in five decisions, limiting the Smokies to just one hit over five innings. Bostick walked five and struck out four hitters, and was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the sixth after throwing 85 pitches. Kevin Cave made his first appearance since July 23rd, activated from the disabled list before the game. Cave permitted one run in an inning. Matt Overman allowed five hits in two scoreless innings, while Chris Resop (S, 21) notched his 21st save with a strikeout in the ninth.
The Mudcats lead West Tenn by four in the division, and are now 10 games ahead of both Tennessee and Huntsville.
The series continues Friday night with Ray Aguilar (4-0) starting against Dustin Nippert (6-3) at 7:15 PM ET.
