W 6-4

Chattanooga, TN --- Dennis Anderson collected his second career four-hit game, driving in three runs to lead the Carolina Mudcats to a 6-4 victory and complete a series sweep at Bell South Park over the Chattanooga Lookouts on Thursday night.

Anderson, starting consecutive games for the first time this season, singled in the game's first run in the second inning off Lookouts starter Eddy Valdez (L, 0-1).  In the fourth, Anderson smoked a two-run double down the right field line, and then singled in his final two at-bats for his first four hit game since going 4-4 May 8th, 2000 in the Midwest League as a Kane County Cougar against the Fort Wayne Wizards.

Meanwhile, Nic Ungs (W, 1-1) and three relievers polished off the Lookouts in a game in which the Mudcats (10-3) never trailed.  Ungs held the Lookouts (6-8) scoreless into the fifth, leading 4-0.  A groundout in the fifth put Chattanooga on the board, and a Lookout rally in the sixth knocked Ungs from the game, filling the bases with two outs before reliever Jerrod Fuell entered to permit a two-run single to Rick Asadoorian, drawing Chattanooga to within 5-3.

After Jeff Bannon homered to lead off the Lookouts eighth inning against reliever Joe Rodriguez, Carolina countered thanks to a pinch-homer in the ninth by former Lookout Jason Hill.

Chris Resop (S, 6) remained perfect in save opportunities, retiring three batters representing the tying run after a leadoff double.  Drew Niles and Rex Rundgren each chipped in two hits for Carolina, which finished its second sweep of the season after taking the first four of the season against Huntsville.

Eric Reed continued one of the longest hitting streaks in club history by doubling to right in the fifth inning, his only hit of the game.  Reed now has hit in 17 straight games, dating to May 29, 2004.  The skein is tied for the third longest in Mudcats history, trailing Elvis Pena (2000) and Kevin Burford's (2001) streaks which ran to 19 games.

Carolina remains in the Northern Division lead by 1 1/2 over West Tenn, and returns home for a brief three-game series against the Tennessee Smokies starting Friday night at 7:15 PM ET.  Logan Kensing (1-1, 2.31) starts against the Smokies Adam Bass (0-1, 9.00).
