Zebulon, NC - The Carolina Mudcats have earned the 2004 Award Of Excellence, as announced by the Southern League (S.L.) on Wednesday.

The honor is awarded to the franchise in the S.L. featuring the strongest percentage growth in attendance, year over year. The Mudcats drew 245,810 in 2004 compared to 204,867 in their championship season of 2003, a spike of 19.99%, the second-best increase in franchise history. (From 1991-92, up 20.68%).

The award will be received by Carolina Mudcats owner Steve Bryant and General Manager Joe Kremer at the S.L.'s Fall Meetings.

The Jacksonville Suns won the 2003 Award Of Excellence.
