Zebulon, NC - Dennis Anderson doubled twice and drove in four to lead Carolina to a 9-4 win over the Jacksonville Suns on Friday night at Five County Stadium.

Carolina (35-32, 72-65) scored all nine of its runs within two innings, batting around for four runs in the third, and sending nine to the plate in a five-run eighth.

Trailing 3-0 in the third, Ryan Minor sinlged in a pair to tie the game against starter Luis Gonzalez before Anderson grounded an opposite field single for the lead later in the inning against reliever Steve Schmoll (L, 0-2).

Jacksonville evened the game against reliever Brian Strelitz (W, 5-1) with a run in the fifth, but the Mudcats offense arose again in the eighth highlighted by a three-run double by Anderson to clinch the victory. Chip Ambres singled against reliever Augustin Montero to snap a 4-4 game.

Trevor Hutchinson started for Carolina, working three innings, but left before the fourth inning began due to stiffness in his shoulder. Randy Messenger pitched two shutout innings to close the win.

Carolina hosts the second game of the series against the Suns Saturday night at 7:15 PM ET. Nic Ungs (11-8, 4.35) starts against Chad Billingsley (4-0, 2.87).
