Jackson, TN - Richard Lewis continued hit torrid hitting as West Tenn drilled 19 hits in an 8-5 Diamond Jaxx win over Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Pringles Park.

Lewis, who hit .588 in the four-game series, doubled, homered and drove in two as the Diamond Jaxx (29-20) took three games against the Mudcats (26-24).

West Tenn scored three in the third inning against Peter Bauer (L, 4-3, 5.1ip, 10h, 5r, 5er, 0w, 6k). Following a single by starting pitcher Chadd Blasko, Dwaine Bacon tripled for a 1-0 lead, followed by Lewis' fifth double of the series to score Bacon. Matt Craig singled to center to score Lewis for a 3-0 advantage.

A homer by Jeff Inglin (HR, 1, 1-4, r, rbi) in the fifth drew the Mudcats within 3-1 before the Diamond Jaxx stretched the lead in the sixth.

Bauer allowed a single to Micah Hoffpauir and a triple to Craig before fannning Mike Dzurilla to end his outing. Reliever Bryan Gaal (ND, 1.2ip, 7h, 3r, 3er, 0w, 2k) checked in, serving up a two-run homer to Aron Weston. Lewis started the seventh with a solo homer to left against Gaal for an 8-2 lead.

Carolina filled the bases in the eighth and ninth innings in an attempt to steal a road win in the late innings. After scoring a run in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk to Jason Stokes (1-4, r, rbi, w, k), Inglin smacked a one-hopper to the mound. In the ninth, Eric Reed (2-2, r, rbi) pushed in a run with an infield hit rolling down the third base line, and after a walk to fill the bases, Diamond Jaxx closer Jermaine Van Buren was summoned for the fourth time in four games. Josh Wilson (0-3, rbi, sf, hbp, 2k) lifted a deep sacrifice fly to left-center to score Michael Tucker (0-4, r, gdp) to make it 8-5. Pinch-hitter Josh Willingham walked bringing Stokes up as the leading run. On the first pitch, Stokes sailed a foul pop wide of first base, only to have the wind blow the ball fair for Hoffpauir to make a tumbling catch to end the game.

Carolina's road trip continues Monday afternoon in the first of four against the Tennessee Smokies at Smokies Park. Jeff Fulchino (0-0, 9.00) starts against Smokies RH Jeremy Cook (0-0, 1.91) at 3:00 PM ET.

Notes: RHP Ruddy Lugo will join Carolina in Tennessee for Monday's game against the Smokies. Lugo notched his eighth save for the Jupiter Hammerheads on Sunday, and will be placed in manager Ron Hassey's bullpen... RHP Kevin Cave is still sidelined by a back injury, and has not thrown in a game since May 22nd. Cave remains on the active roster... The 10 hits against Bauer tied a season high against him.... OF Jeff Inglin hit his first homer as a Mudcat, in the park where he was the MVP of the 1999 Southern League All-Star game. At the time, Inglin was a member of the Birmingham Barons, the Chicago White Sox Double-A club... Van Buren, originally a 2nd round pick from Hattiesburg High School in Mississippi, came through the Colorado Rockies organization before moving to Independent ball in 2003. Van Buren, saddled with arm injuries before the Rockies released him, never reached Carolina while they were a Rockies affiliate... By pitching in all four games across the series against Carolina, Van Buren became the first-ever pitcher to do so in Mudcats history... Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry was in attendance during the four-game series at Pringles Park.
