Zebulon, NC - Carolina won its second straight game, shutting out Tennessee 3-0 before 5,011 at Five County Stadium on Saturday night.

Jason Stokes (HR, 12, 1-4, r, 2rbi) hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to open up a three-run lead.

Carolina (23-20) went ahead 1-0 on a double by Josh Wilson (2-4, r, 2-2b, rbi, k) in the fourth inning.  Wilson's looper against the right field line scored Billy Hall (1-2, r, w, sb, cs) who had reached on a two-base error by third baseman Gabe Johnson.

Bill Murphy (W, 5-1, 5ip, 1h, 0r, 8w, 6k) earned his fifth straight win despite walking a career-high eight batters.

Carolina moved into a second-place tie with Jacksonville, trailing Eastern Division leading Chattanooga by one game.

The Smokies (22-21) fell two games back in the East, and received 11 walks from four Carolina pitchers.  Tennessee had the leadoff batter reach in seven of nine innings, including consecutive walks to begin the first and second innings.  Seven times the Smokies lost baserunners in the game - three were thrown out stealing, one was picked off, a pair on double plays and another on force play at third base when centerfielder Hall trapped a sinking line drive.

Ronald Belizario (1-3, 5.59) starts Sunday at 2:00 PM ET against Chris Narveson (0-5, 4.54) at Five County Stadium.

Notes:  RHP Pat Flury was assigned to Triple-A Albuquerque before Saturday's game.  The Mudcats are currently two players short of the league minimum.... Manager Ron Hassey announced before the game that RHP Trevor Hutchinson will be skipped from his scheduled Tuesday start against the Smokies after undergoing a Friday MRI on his right elbow.  Initial tests show the results normal, however Hutchinson is expected to fly to Miami to rehab and return to Carolina when recovered.  Jeff Fulchino is expected to make the Tuesday start in Hutchinson's absence... Stokes' homer in the eighth was his first since May 10, which completed a four-game homer streak.  Stokes leads the Southern League with 12.
