Carolina (17-13) went ahead 3-2 when Billy Hall (3-4, R, SB) scored a two-out unearned run in the fifth when Braves first baseman Napoleon Calzado dropped a throw from shortstop Tony Pena Jr.

Josh Willingham (HR, 6, 2-4, R, RBI, K) had a bloop single and solo homer to break free of a slump.

Dennis Anderson (1-1, RBI) delivered a pinch-single in the eighth to drive home Jim Kavourias (1-3, R, W, K) for a 5-2 lead.
