Zebulon, NC - The Carolina Mudcats won their third straight game over the Greenville Braves with an 11-3 decision at Five County Stadium on Saturday night.

Jason Stokes (HR, 9, 2-4, 2R, 3RBI, HBP) hit a three-run homer in the sixth, while Chip Ambres (HR, 2, 3-4, 2R, 2B, RBI, W, K, SB) stroked a solo shot in the third inning to lead Carolina (16-13) to its sixth straight win over the Braves (6-23).

The teams traded runs in the first 2 1/2 innings before a five-run third inning split a 2-2 tie.  Starting pitcher Ronald Belizario grounded a two-run double into the left field corner to punctuate the inning.

Belizario (W, 1-3, 5IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 6W, 3K) earned his first Double-A win despite issuing a season-high six walks and stranding the bases loaded twice.

Carolina remains three games behind the Jacksonville Suns in the Eastern Division, but just 1/2 game out of second place.

Ryan Baker (ND, 2IP, 0H, 0R, 2W, 1K) pitched a pair of hitless innings, then turned the ball over to Kevin Cave (ND, 2IP, 1H, 0R, 1W, 3K) to pitch the final two shutout innings.

Carolina sends Peter Bauer (2-1, 2.77) to the mound on Sunday against Greenville's Macay McBride (0-4, 7.14) at 2:00 PM ET.

Notes:  Ambres extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 3-4 on Saturday night... Stokes leads the Southern League with 32 RBI, and has homered in five of his last nine games...  Prior to winning Saturday night, Carolina was 0-5 in games started by Belizario...  The Mudcats have not swept a four-game series in 2004, but will take four from Greenville with a win on Sunday afternoon.  Carolina will not play the Braves until mid-July... Greenville at 6-23 has the second worst record in minor league baseball, just 1/2 game better than the 5-23 Frederick Keys from the Carolina League...  Dennis Anderson, starting ahead of Josh Willingham on Saturday night, drove in a season-high two runs with a sacrifice fly and single... Jimmy Goelz, sidelined last week with a slight hamstring pull, was taken out of Saturday's game after scoring on an error in the second inning, apparently re-injuring the muscle.  Matt Demarco entered, and went 1-3 with a run and RBI...  Saturday was a busy day for former Mudcats in the major leagues as Jason Jennings outdueled Greg Maddux at Wrigley Field, including a two-run homer off Maddux in the fifth inning.  Shawn Chacon earned his eighth save in the Rockies 4-3 win over the Cubs.  Franklyn Gracesqui suffered his first major league loss in Saturday night's loss to San Diego in 10 innings.  The Marlins reliever allowed three runs in the 10th inning on four hits.  Miguel Cabrera hit his National League tying-10th homer of the season, joining Barry Bonds, Adam Dunn and Jim Thome for the league lead.  Jody Gerut hit his fourth homer of the season for the Cleveland Indians in a 10-7 loss to Texas. Gerut went 2-5 with three RBI.
