Zebulon, NC - Josh Wilson singled with the bases loaded and no outs in the ninth as Carolina defeated Greenville 5-4 on Friday night before 5,508 at Five County Stadium.

Wilson smacked Kevin Barry's (L, 2-1) 1-0 pitch over Adam Stern's head in centerfield to score Billy Hall (2-3, R, 3B, W, CS) with the winning run.  Hall tripled to begin the ninth, followed by a pair of intentional walks by Barry to fill the bases.  Barry entered the game with an ERA of 0.69 in nine appearances.

The game reached the last of the ninth after Stern doubled home the tying runs in the top of the ninth against Bryan Gaal (W, 2-1, 1IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 2W, 0K).  Stern drove a liner off of Hall's glove in left field with one out to score two runs to knot the game at 4-4.

The Mudcats (15-13) won their second straight game, and are now 5-1 against the Braves (6-22), including four one-run victories.

Greenville went ahead of starter Bill Murphy (ND, 5.1IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, 1W, 8K) with a first inning run, only to have the Mudcats even the score on successive doubles by Chip Ambres (2-4, R, 2B) and Jason Stokes (HR, 8, 2-3, R, 2B, 3RBI, HBP, K).

Kelly Johnson hit a solo homer against Murphy in the third as Greenville went ahead 2-1.

The Braves were denied a larger lead in the sixth when Murphy was knocked out of the game with a pair of singles.  Ryan Baker (ND, 0.2IP, 1H, 0R, 0W, 0K) allowed a single to fill the bases, then defended a one-hop smash by Brayan Pena and converted that into a 1-6-3 double play to end the inning.

In the bottom half of the sixth, Stokes connected for a long two-run homer to left against reliever Alec Zumwalt.  Zumwalt had just entered the game after starter Daniel Curtis faced two batters in the inning, permitting a single to Wilson.

The Mudcats added an unearned run in the seventh as Matt Demarco scored from first base on a single by Eric Reed (2-4, IBB) to right field as Bill McCarthy committed his first error of the season handling Reed's bouncer.

Carolina manager Ron Hassey used five relievers for the final 3 2/3 innings.

Carolina, now 3-3 on the homestand, sends Ronald Belizario (0-3, 5.96) against Greenville's Zach Miner (1-3, 9.70) at 7:15 PM ET.
