Jacksonville, FL - Chip Ambres and Matt Demarco each had five hits in Sunday's doubleheader split as Carolina earned its first win of the second half at the Baseball Grounds against the Jacksonville Suns.

Ambres went 4-4 with two RBI in the nightcap, and will enter Monday afternoon's tilt with five consecutive singles after driving home a run in a futile two-run rally in the seventh inning of the opener, which the Mudcats (1-4) lost 3-2.

Demarco went 3-3 with a homer in game one, then drilled two hits and drove in two in the nightcap, a 6-3 Carolina victory.

Jeff Fulchino (W, 2-2) earned the win in the second game, allowing two runs in the first, wriggling from second inning trouble, then retired the final 10 batters he faced.

Trevor Hutchinson (L, 5-5) was charged with the loss in the first game despite pitching well over 4 1/3 innings. Hutchinson allowed two earned runs on four hits.

Carolina continues its series against the Suns (2-3) on Monday afternoon at 1:05 PM ET with Ronald Belizario (3-5) starting against Derek Thompson (3-3).
