Chattanooga, TN - The Carolina Mudcats began the second half by losing a doubleheader in Chattanooga on Thursday night 6-3 and 8-5 at Bell South Park.

The Lookouts (40-32, 2-0) defeated Nic Ungs (L, 3-4) in the opener, and followed that with a victory over Carolina's winningest starter Bill Murphy (L, 6-3).

Carolina (37-35, 0-2) jumped to a 3-1 lead in the opener on a two-run homer by Josh Willingham (HR, 15) in the third inning.  The Lookouts tied the game on a two-run single by Bobby Darula, then went ahead on a solo homer by Andy Beattie.

In the nightcap, former Mudcat Luke Hudson (W, 3-6) defeated his old team for the first time in three starts, working five scoreless innings.  Chattanooga established an 8-0 lead into the seventh inning before Carolina scored five times, using 11 hitters and bringing the leading run to the plate before Charles Frazier fanned with the bases loaded.

Carolina closes its three-game series in Chattanooga on Friday night.  Peter Bauer (4-4) will oppose Lookouts righty Steve Kelly (5-3) at 7:15 PM ET.
