Zebulon, NC - Ronny Cedeno homered twice while three West Tenn pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Diamond Jaxx blanked Carolina 9-0 before 6,070 fans on Saturday night at Five County Stadium.

Cedeno homered with two on in the second inning and then hit solo homer in the ninth inning for his first multi-homer game of his career, spanning 409 games.  Cedeno's first helped to spoil the return of Mudcats starting pitcher Trevor Hutchinson (L, 5-4, 2+ip, 6h, 7r, 7er, 4w, 2k).

Hutchinson started for the first time since May 20th, missing five starts with cynovitis in his right elbow.  Hutchinson faced four batters in the third inning, allowing a single and three straight walks before being relieved by Peter Bauer (ND, 5ip, 4h, 1r, 1er, 1w, 4k)

Dwaine Bacon singled in two runs in the third inning after Carolina (36-33) missed a chance to turn a 1-2-3 double play that would have ended the inning.

Kevin Cave (ND, 2ip, 3h, 1r, 1er, 1w, 3k) allowed all three of his hits in his second inning of work, including Cedeno's homer in the ninth.

Reynel Pinto (W, 6-4) retired the first 11 batters he faced, including striking out five in succession.  Pinto fanned nine on the night, moving into a league tie with Mudcats lefty Bill Murphy, who also has 90 this season.

Nathan Mitchell pitched two hitless innings, while closer Jermaine Van Buren struck out all three hitters in the ninth.

Carolina's lone hit was a body shot off of Pinto in the sixth inning.  Hall's liner caromed off of Pinto's leg, deflecting behind the pitcher's mound for an infield single.

Both Carolina and West Tenn were eliminated from their respective divisional races on Saturday night with one game left in the first half.  Tennessee clinched the East with a 5-3 win over Jacksonville while Mobile won the West with a 4-1 game one victory in a doubleheader over Montgomery.

The first half ends on Sunday at 4:00 with Ronald Belizario (3-5, 5.37) starting against West Tenn's Chadd Blasko (5-4, 5.81) at 4:00 PM ET.

Notes:  Saturday night's game was the fifth played without 1B Jason Stokes in the lineup.  Stokes will undergo an MRI on Tuesday morning as a precaution on his injured left wrist, but could be cleared to play as early as the first series of the second half in Chattanooga beginning Wednesday afternoon.  The Mudcats are 2-3 without Stokes...  Hutchinson was cleared to go 75 pitches on Saturday night, but lasted just 58 before being relieved by Bauer.... Bauer's relief appearance was just the 17th of his 107-game professional career, and the first since September 1, 2003 pitching for New Haven in the Double-A Eastern League...  Cave's appearance was his second since coming off of the disabled list with a back injury....  Saturday night was Miguel Cabrera bobblehead giveaway.... Sunday's half finale is a celebration for Father's Day.  All dad's can enter Five County for half-price tickets, and from 2:00-3:00, play catch with their children on the outfield before the game...  Tennessee's first half title ends a two-half run by the Mudcats.  The Smokies divisional title is their first since the first half of 1999 when the Smokies were knows as the Knoxville Smokies....  To make room for Hutchinson on the active roster, RHP Bryan Gaal was released after Friday night's game.
