Greenville, SC - Ryan Minor singled home the tying and leading runs with one out in the ninth as Carolina rallied for its third consecutive win 9-8 over Greenville on Friday night at Municipal Stadium.

Minor floated a 1-0 pitch from former Mudcat pitcher Jamie Emiliano down the left field line with the bases loaded.  Carolina won when trailing after eight innings for just the second time in 38 games.

Greenville (20-13) snatched an 8-7 advantage in the eighth on Andy Marte's second homer of the game, drilling a fastball from Pat Flury (W, 2-3, 1.1ip, 1h, 1er, 0w, 1k) over the 405-foot mark in centerfield.

Carolina's winning rally began on a one-out walk to Josh Willingham (0-3, r, hbp, w, k, gdp).  Jeff Inglin (2-5, r, 2b, rbi) grounded a pitch toward deep short, gloved by Tony Pena, inserted for defensive purposes as the ninth started.  Pena pumped toward second, changed his mind and threw wildly to first.  With runners at second and third, Jason Stokes (2-4, r, ibb, 2k) was intentionally walked ahead of Minor's single.

Carolina (14-19) moved from last place in the East for the first time since July 20, passing Tennessee, but remained 8 1/2 games behind Chattanooga.

The Mudcats scored three early runs against Ray Aguilar, including two in the first inning on an Inglin double and a wild pitch.  The Mudcats went ahead 3-0 in the second on one of four Greenville errors, which scored Andy Rohleder (1-4, 2r, 2b, w, 2k), who had doubled to center to start the frame.

Greenville tied the game against starting pitcher Jeff Fulchino (ND, 2+ip, 6h, 5r, 5er, 2w, 1k) in the second, before Marte homered against Fulchino with a runner aboard in the third.  Fulchino made two more pitches against the next hitter before leaving the game with an undisclosed injury.

Brian Strelitz (ND, 3ip, 5h, 2r, 2er, 0w, 0k) worked the next three innings, allowing two runs as the Braves moved out 7-3.

The Mudcats scored four times in the sixth against reliever Macay McBride to tie the game.  Rex Rundgren (2-5, rbi, 3k) bounced a single to right to score a run, Casey Grzecka (0-0, rbi, sf) came off the bench for a pinch-sacrifice fly before right fielder Kelly Johnson dropped a flyball to score a third run.  Chip Ambres (1-3, r, rbi, sf, hbp, k) tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

Carolina opens an eight-game, nine-day homestand on Saturday night at 7:15 PM ET with Jason Iehl (0-0, 0.00) starting against Seth McClung of Montgomery.
