Greenville, SC - Scott Thorman singled home Aaron Herr with the winning run for a 6-5 Greenville win over Carolina in 12 innings on Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium.

The Mudcats (11-19) scored three in the ninth to tie the game 5-5 and force extra innings. Andy Rohleder (1-5, rbi, w, k, sb) swatted a two-strike pitch for a game-tying two-out single.

Ruddy Lugo (ND, 4ip, 6h, 3r, 3er, 1w, 0k) made the spot-start for Carolina, working four innings, allowing three runs. Greenville (20-10) took a 3-1 lead on a homer by Jackson Melian in the fourth.

Chip Ambres (HR, 11, 2-5, 3r, 2b, rbi, w, 2k) hit his career-best 11th homer in the second against Brian Moehler to give Carolina a 1-0 lead. The Braves tied the game in the bottom half of the inning on an infield single by Lee Evans.

Playing shorthanded, Carolina used five more relivers until the game-ending hit by Thorman. Brian Strelitz (ND, 2ip, 4h, 2r, 2er, 1w, 0k) worked two innings, allowing two runs. Mike Flannery (ND, 1ip, 1h, 0r, 0w, 0k) and Randy Messenger (ND, 1ip, 1h, 0r, 0w, 1k) each worked one scoreless inning before Carolina tied the game.

Pat Flury (ND, 3ip, 5h, 0r, 2w, 2k) pitched three shutout innings, his longest outing of the season. Flury stranded six baserunners during his tenure.

Rex Rundgren (3-4, r, 2rbi, w, k) and Matt Demarco (3-6, r, rbi, k) each had three hits for the Mudcats.

Napoleon Calzado and Herr each had five of Greenville's 19 hits.

Trevor Hutchinson (5-6, 5.65) starts against Greenville's Zach Miner (5-8, 5.68) at 7:15 PM ET on Wednesday night.
