Chip Ambres drilled a pinch-hit three-run double in the sixth to open up a 4-0 lead for the Mudcats (8-11), who won their third straight game for the first time since June 3-5.
Carolina scored a first inning run against Anthony Reyes (L, 1-1) on a balk which forced Hall in from third base. Hall (2-4, r, rbi, ibb, sb) singled to open the inning, stole second, then advanced to third on a single by Jeff Inglin (1-3, w).
Bill Murphy (ND, 4ip, 2h, 0r, 2w, 5k) worked a 72-pitch four-inning start, walking two, allowing two hits and fanning five.
Mike McNutt (W, 2-0, 2ip, 1h, 0r, 0w, 2k) worked two scoreless innings to earn the win, while Pat Flury (ND, 2ip, 1h, 0r, 2w, 2k) pitched the seventh and eighth.
