Montgomery, AL - For the second straight game, the Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Carolina Mudcats 4-1 before 6,351 fans at Riverwalk Stadium on Friday night.
Chris Seddon (W, 6-4) worked 5 1/3 innings allowing one run to earn his sixth Double-A victory. Jeff Fulchino (L, 2-3, 5ip, 8h, 3r, 3er, 1w, 5k) allowed two runs in the third and another in the fourth as the Mudcats (5-11) slipped further into last place in the Eastern Division.
The Mudcats dropped seven games behind first-place Chattanooga.
Carolina has managed just two runs and 10 combined hits in its two losses against the Biscuits. Matt Demarco (2-4, sb) went 2-4, and has five hits in the first two games of the series.
The Mudcats lone run scored in the sixth on a single by Jeff Inglin (1-3, rbi, w) which scored Rex Rundgren (1-4, r, 2b, 2k) from second base.
Brian Strelitz (ND, 1.1ip, 2h, 1r, 1er, 0w, 0k), Randy Messenger (ND, 0.2ip, 1h, 0r, 0w, 2k) and Mike Flannery (ND, 1ip, 0h, 0r, 2w, 2k) combined to throw the final three innings for Carolina.
The Biscuits drilled out 11 hits, including two apiece by Fernando Cortez, Vince Harrison and Amado German.
Carlos Hines, who pitched high school baseball at Smithfield-Selma High, worked 2 2/3 perfect innings in relief.
Nic Ungs (4-5, 4.69) starts Saturday night for Carolina against Matt Parker (3-2, 4.40) at 8:05 PM ET at Riverwalk Stadium.
