Jackson, TN - The Carolina Mudcats capitalized on 12 walks from West Tenn pitchers to gain a 9-5 victory at Pringles Park on Saturday night.
Josh Willingham went 3-3 with three RBI while Nic Ungs (W, 8-8, 6.2ip, 7h, 3r, 3er, 1w, 11k) struck out a career-high 11 batters for the Mudcats (22-25).
Ungs allowed two runs in the first inning, with the entire inning building with two outs and none on, then blitzed the Diamond Jaxx until a solo homer in the sixth inning by former Tar Heel outfielder Adam Greenberg. Ungs fanned two batters in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Jeff Inglin (0-2, 2r, 3w) and Jason Stokes (0-1, 3r, 4w) combined to walk seven times as the number three and four hitters, scoring five runs. Willingham singled in two runs in the fifth, then walked with the bases loaded in the sixth as Carolina created a 9-2 advantage.
Bobby Brownlie (L, 8-8) worked 3+ innings, allowing three hits and one run. Brownlie collapsed due to food poisoning in his last start, August 1st, and was limited to 41 pitches in his first start back. Brownlie was the first-round pick of the Chicago Cubs in June, 2002 from Rutgers.

Mike McNutt (2-0, 4.73) comes off the disabled list for his first appearance since July 17th. McNutt has been recovering from appendicitis and will oppose Ricky Nolasco (3-3, 4.10).

Notes: The 12 walks received by Carolina was one shy of the club record of 13 set on April 11, 1998 against Huntsville.... Ungs fanned 10+ hitters for just the second time in his 82-start career. With 11 strikeouts, Ungs fanned the fifth-most (tied with many) in a single-game in team history... With a run-scoring triple in the third inning, Billy Hall extended his season-high hitting streak to 7 games. The 35-year-old Hall is 11th in the league in hitting (.291), and second in steals (36). Hall led the league in stolen bases in 2003 with 45... Saturday night's game was televised on Comcast Sports South. Mudcats broadcaster Patrick Kinas worked the TV side with play-by-play man Matt Stewart, while Mudcats infielder Jimmy Goelz did radio play-by-play. Goelz interviewed pitcher Ryan Baker for the pre-game and broadcast the entire game and post-game show. Goelz, 28, is on the disabled list with a hamstring injury. Goelz's broadcast is archived on the Mudcats website here.
