Jackson, TN - Mike Mallory hit a pinch-hit go-homer as West Tenn dumped Carolina 3-2 on Friday night at Pringles Park.

Mallory, who was batting for winning pitcher Jermaine Van Buren (W, 3-2), whipped a pitch from Jason Pearson (L, 0-1, 0.1ip, 1h, 1r, 1er, 0w, 1k) over the right-field wall for the win. Pearson was the fourth Mudcats pitcher used from the eighth inning forward.

Carolina saw its three-game winning streak snapped despite taking leads of 1-0 and 2-1.

Trevor Hutchinson (ND, 7+ip, 7h, 2r, 2er, 2w, 3k) worked into the eighth inning, and benefitted from four double plays behind him during the game.

The Mudcats (21-25) went ahead 1-0 in the fourth on a two-out single from Josh Willingham (1-3, rbi, ibb).

The Diamond Jaxx (19-27), who snapped a six-game losing skid, tied the game on a bloop single by Paul O'Toole in the fifth, scoring Aron Weston, who had tripled.

Carolina went ahead 2-1 in the eighth on a two-out single by Ryan Minor (1-4, rbi, k). However, the Diamond Jaxx suicide squeezed the tying run home on a bunt by Josh Arteaga.

Nic Ungs (7-8, 4.65) starts the series' second game on Saturday night at 8:05 PM ET against Bobby Brownlie (9-7, 3.42).
