Sevierville, TN - Andy Rohleder doubled and scored Carolina's first run, then singled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning as the Mudcats won their third straight game 2-1 at Smokies Park over Tennessee on Thursday night.
With the game tied 1-1, Carolina's ninth inning began with a walk to Jeff Inglin (0-3, r, w), who then advanced to second on an infield single behind the second base bag by Jason Stokes (1-4, k). Following a sacrifice bunt by Rob Ryan (0-2, w, s) on an 0-2 pitch from Josh Kinney (L, 2-7), Rohleder drilled a groundball single between a pulled-in right side of the Smokies infield.
Peter Bauer (ND, 7ip, 5h, 1r, 1er, 0w, 5k) worked seven strong innings, allowing five hits and one run. Bauer fanned five acccompanied by no walks. Tennessee (19-27) placed the leadoff batter in four of Bauer's seven frames, but only scored in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Brad Cresse.
The Mudcats (21-24) went ahead 1-0 in the fourth against Josh Axelson when Rohleder doubled with two outs, and sprinted home on a single to left by Dennis Anderson (1-4, rbi).
Mike Flannery (W, 4-1, 0.1ip, 0h, 0r, 0w, 0k) earned the win by retiring Cresse in the eighth with a runner at second base in the eighth.
Randy Messenger (S, 17, 1ip, 1h, 0r, 0w, 0k) registered his 12th consecutive save, his 17th of the season in 19 attempts.
Carolina remained 10 1/2 games behind surging Chattanooga in the East, and moved to 3-1 on its 12-game road trip. The Mudcats open a four-game series against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx at 8:05 PM ET with Trevor Hutchinson (8-6, 4.77) starting against Reynel Pinto (9-8, 3.07).

Notes: Before the game, RHP Ryan Baker was re-added to Carolina's roster. Baker had made his Triple-A debut for Albuquerque on Tuesday night, working three scoreless innings in a start for the Isotopes. Baker did not pitch Thursday night... Following the game, the Marlins reassigned RHP Jason Iehl to Greensboro after his four-game stint with Carolina. Iehl went 1-0 with a 3.14 ERA, winning his first Double-A game on Tuesday night. RHP Mike McNutt, who has been out since July 18th following an appendectomy, is expected to be activated for Sunday's start against the Diamond Jaxx.... Saturday night's game between the Mudcats and Diamond Jaxx will be televised on Comcast Sports South, available to over 4 million homes in the southeast. Mudcats broadcaster Patrick Kinas will join Comcast's Matt Stuart for the telecast. Carolina infielder Jimmy Goelz will handle the radio duties on Saturday night. Goelz, who has sat in on numerous broadcasts this season, is currently on the disabled list with a hamstring injury.
