Zebulon, NC - Kade Johnson singled
home the game's only run in the sixth inning as Huntsville
defeated Carolina 1-0 at Five County Stadium before
6,541 on Friday night.
The 3-hour, 46-minute game featured 17 combined walks
and 25 stranded baserunners. Both teams squandered bases
loaded opportunities in the game, including Carolina
(17-22) failing to score with no outs in the fifth inning.
Jeff Fulchino (L, 3-5, 5.2ip, 7h, 1r, 1er, 4w, 5k)
suffered the loss while pitching through trouble from
the second inning through the sixth.
Dennis Sarfate (W, 5-9) earned his first win since
June 25th despite walking seven batters in five-plus
innings.
Billy Hall (2-3, 2w) reached four of his five times
in the game, collecting a pair of singles and two walks.
The Mudcats were 0-10 with runners in scoring position
while Huntsville (21-18) was 1-16.
Carolina fell 9 1/2 behind Chattanooga in the East
with the loss, which snapped a three-game winning streak.
The Mudcats managed just four hits in the game.
Peter Bauer (5-8, 4.33) starts the third game of the
series Saturday night against Huntsville's Glen Woolard
(3-0, 3.40) at 7:15 PM ET.
