Greenville, SC - Joe Dillon and Michael Tucker drove in two runs apiece, while the Carolina bullpen threw four scoreless innings to lead the Mudcats to a 4-3 win in Greenville on Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium.

Dillon (1-4, R, 2B, 2RBI, K) doubled home Eric Reed (2-4, 2R, 2B, W, K, 2SB) in the first, then drove Reed in again in the second, while Tucker (1-4, 2B, 2RBI, K) delivered a two-run double inside the first base bag in the first inning as the Mudcats (10-10) evened the four-game series one game apiece.

Peter Bauer (W, 2-0, 5IP, 8H, 3R, 3ER, 2W, 3K) remained unbeaten through four starts, allowing all three runs in the Braves' third inning. After facing seven batters in the first two innings, Bauer saw eight in the third inning, making only 12 pitches, yet allowing three runs on five hits. Bauer continued with two shutout innings to end his 64-pitch outing in line for his second win.

Pat Flury (ND, 2IP, 1H, 0R, 1W, 3K) entered in the sixth, walking the tying run aboard with one out before making a headlong diving catch on a sacrifice attempt by pitcher Ralph Roberts. Flury dove toward home plate for the catch, then doubled off the runner to end the inning. Flury then permitted a leadoff triple in the seventh to Adam Stern, only to strikeout Tony Pena, Andy Marte and Bill McCarthy in succession.

Jerrod Fuell (ND, 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0W, 1K) worked a one-hit eighth inning before Bryan Gaal (S, 1, 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0W, 1K) entered for his first save of the season.

Reed stole two bases and scored twice for the Mudcats, extending his hitting streak to eight games.

With the win, Carolina maintained pace with first-place Jacksonville, five games behind in the East, locked in a third-place tie with Tennessee. Chattanooga remains in second place, trailing the Suns by three.

Trevor Hutchinson (3-1, 3.68) starts the third game of the series on Thursday night against first-time Double-A starter Matt Merricks (0-0, 0.00), who was 0-0 with a 2.40 ERA in three starts at High-A Myrtle Beach this season.

Notes: Billy Hall made his first start since being returned to Double-A, starting in left field and going 0-4.... Reed twice stole third base in Wednesday night's game, giving him 12 for the season and the Southern League lead over West Tenn's Dwaine Bacon... Following the Marlins game at Coors Field, the Marlins promoted Franklyn Gracesqui to the major leagues. Gracesqui was a key set-up reliever in Carolina's 2003 Southern League Championship season, earning a spot on the Marlins 40-man roster in November, and breaking camp with Triple-A Albuquerque this spring... Gaal's save Wednesday night was Carolina's first save acquired by anyone other than Kevin Cave. Cave blew his second save try in five attempts on Tuesday night.
