Jacksonville, FL - One pitch after a disputed call, Jesse Hoorelbeke doubled in the tie-breaking run in the seventh to lead the Jacksonville Suns by the Carolina Mudcats 6-2 at the Baseball Grounds on Monday afternoon.

With the game tied 1-1, following a leadoff single by Wilkin Ruan, Suns left fielder Jason Repko bunted midway up the first base line.  Carolina reliever Clint Sodowsky allowed the ball to roll until it stopped against the chalk while both runners moved to first and second.  Sodowsky, hovering over the silent ball, pointed down toward the ball indicating he thought the ball lay in foul territory, made subsequent eye contact with plate umpire Garrett Watson, then picked up the ball.  Watson then pointed fair, and Repko reached with a single.  Hoorelbeke doubled to right-center, scoring Ruan before Sodowsky (L, 1-2, 0IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 0W, 0K) was relieved by Todd MoserMoser (ND, 2IP, 1H, 2R, 2ER, 2W, 0K) threw a pair of wild pitches, each scoring runs as the Suns (14-4) went ahead 4-1.

In the Carolina eighth, the Mudcats (9-9) scored a run after a 23-minute rain delay.  Carolina loaded the bases with one out, but only a sacrifice fly from Chip Ambres (0-2, RBI, S, SF) scored a run to trim the deficit to 4-2.

Moser allowed two runs in the eighth as the Suns claimed the four-game series 3-1, and pushed the Mudcats five games back in the East.

Bill Murphy (ND, 5IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 4W, 4K) started for the Mudcats, but threw 88 pitches in five innings to curtail his outing.  Murphy allowed only a run in the third inning when Willy Aybar singled home Repko from second base with two outs.  Repko reached second base after beating a tag at second base on a steal attempt when Murphy threw to first base.

Carolina mustered little against Suns starter Glenn BottBott, who earned the win on Friday night in 11 innings, pitched six scoreless allowing two hits and fanning six.  After Elvin Nina (W, 3-0) relieved Bott, Michael Tucker (2-3, RBI, W) singled in the tying run in the seventh, lacing an 0-2 pitch from Nina to right-center to bring home Joe Dillon (2-4, R, 2B).

Yhency Brazoban (S, 3) pitched the final two innings to earn his third save of the season.

Carolina continues an eight-game road trip against 4-14 Greenville beginning at 7:15 PM ET Tuesday night at Municipal StadiumRonald Belizario (0-2, 4.30) starts against Greenville RH Zach Miner (0-3, 11.68).

NotesCarolina has dropped five of its last seven games, and while leading the league in homers, has not hit a home run in 191 at-bats, spanning over five games...  For the second time in three days, the Mudcats' record is at .500 (9-9).  Carolina has never been below .500 in any half in the three halves as an affiliate of the Florida Marlins...  Pat Flury made his Carolina debut, pitching the sixth inning.  Flury began the season at Triple-A Albuquerque, but compiled a 15.00 ERA in six relief appearances.  Flury has made 510 career appearances, all out of the bullpen...  Chip Ambres season-high six-game hitting streak was snapped by going 0-2 on Monday...  Eric Reed extended his hitting streak to six with a ninth inning single.  Reed's streak matches Ambres' as the longest by a Mudcat batter in 2004.... Former Mudcats reliever Justin Huisman made his major league debut for the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, pitching a scoreless inning, facing four batters in the ninth inning of a 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins.... Former Mudcat first baseman Adrian Gonzalez hit his first major league home run in Texas' 14-6 win over Seattle on SundayGonzalez, hitting .320 in his rookie season, hit the third of three consecutive home runs in the sixth inning against the Mariners...  Prior to Texas' game Sunday, former Mudcat pitcher Ryan Snare was optioned to Triple-A OklahomaSnare had spent six days in the major leagues, but did not appear in a game, technically not beginning his major league career... .Monday's crowd of 9,634 was mainly schoolkids from the Jacksonville metro area.
