Mobile, AL - Jake Gautreau hit a game-winning pinch-homer to win the opener, while Chris Rojas tossed five strong innings in the nightcap as the Mobile BayBears swept a doubleheader from the Carolina Mudcats on Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The BayBears (2-2) were able to split the four-game set with Carolina (2-2) thanks to a five-homer first game, including hitting consecutive home runs twice in the game. Nick Trzesniak hit two homers, one in the second and another leading off the seventh inning against Mudcats closer Kevin Cave (L, 1-1, 0IP, 2H, 2ER, 0W, 0K) to tie the score 5-5. The left-handed hitting Gautreau, left on manager Gary Jones' bench with Carolina starting a left-handed pitcher, fired a 2-0 pitch from Cave to the opposite corner slicing inside the foul pole for the game-winner.

Carolina had rallied twice for the lead, scoring three runs in the second for a 3-2 advantage. Murphy (ND, 4.2IP, 4H, 4ER, 2W, 5K) drove a two-run, two-out double to centerfield capping the inning, only to allow back-to-back homers to Trzesniak and BayBears starting pitcher Steve Watkins in the bottom half of the inning putting Mobile ahead 4-3.

In the sixth, the Mudcats gained a 5-4 lead on a two-run homer by Joe Dillon (HR, 4, 1-2, 2R, HBP), his fourth homer in three games, which leads all professional players - major and minor - thus far this season.

Cave entered for the bottom of the seventh inning three outs away from his second save in as many games, but five pitches and two homers later, walked off the field suffering his first Double-A loss.

In the nightcap, Mobile scored two runs in each of the first three innings against starter Ronald Belizario (L, 0-1, 4IP, 5H, 6R, 4ER, 3W, 3K) for a 7-1 victory.

Chip Ambres (1-3, R, 2B, SB) mounted Carolina's offense with a second-inning double, a steal of third leading to an errant throw down the left field line by catcher Steve Morales, which permitted Ambres to score, trimming the deficit to 2-1.

Rojas allowed just three hits over five innings and an unearned run for the victory.

Carolina is off on Sunday, beginning a three-game set in Huntsville, Alabama against the Stars on Monday night at 8:05 PM ET. The series will represent a rematch of the Southern League Championship Series from last fall, when Carolina downed the Stars in a title-deciding fifth game at Five County Stadium. Peter Bauer will make his first start of the season for Carolina.
