This Week's Players are...
The 2008 Mudcats All-Stars: Chris Mobley, Jeff Gogal, Jarrett Santos, Gaby Sanchez, Willie Glen, Chris Coghlan & John Raynor
Chris Mobley:
What was your favorite item in the All-Star gift bag?
The mini bottles of Heinz ketchup!
What events made this All-Star Game so memorable?
The best thing was the Luncheon and having my family attend. The slide show presentation at the luncheon was nice.
Jeff Gogal:
The 335th Fighter Squadron provided the F-15 Flyover. Be honest did they scare you?
Yes, I’m not going to lie…I was scared.
What do you think about on the mound, knowing your job in the game is to come in and throw a couple of innings?
Just throw strikes!
Jarrett Santos:
With the outstanding league hitters represented on the South Division, who was one hitter you did not want to face?
Russell Mitchell
What three words would you use to describe the All-Star Weekend?
Fun, Free Food, and Asterisk
John Raynor:
Where were you when you heard that you had made the All-Star Team?
I was in my hotel room in Jacksonville.
What were your initial feelings after you heard the good news?
Relief. This is something that you work hard to achieve from the beginning of the season. When you finally realize that your hard work everyday is working, then it makes it all worth it.
Do you have anything you want to say about the Miracle League All-Star Game?
My buddy, Nicholas and his family were so thankful and excited that we (the players) allowed them to be apart of the All-Star celebrations. I told them that it should be the other way around. I was so thankful that I was allowed to be a part of the Miracle League All-Star Game. They are all so amazing and all of the kids’ personalities are so much fun. Nicholas was awesome!
Gaby Sanchez:
What is the atmosphere like in the clubhouse with all the guys from different teams in one clubhouse?
It was fine. Most of us know each other from other years playing against each other. And there were a lot more Mudcats than everyone else.
You’ve been named to several All-Star teams, how does the Southern League All-Star honor rank amongst the previous All-Star honors?
Everyone is special. It’s an honor to play in them and be named to the team. I can’t rank them because I feel proud of all of them.
Willie Glen:
With the long bus rides and the All-Star festivities. What did you do get mentally prepared to pitch?
Nothing different-it was no big deal, especially with the off day before the game.
What was your favorite thing about the All-Star Weekend?
Just being able to watch a collection of the best players in the league and watching all play at one time.
Chris Coghlan:
How did you feel when you heard your name announced as the 2008 Southern League MVP?
I felt fortunate and blessed. I was happy for my mom ‘cause she drove all the way from Tampa, FL for the game!
What was your favorite highlight of the Miracle League?
Meeting all the Miracle League Players! |
